Congregation Nevei Kadosh

Champaign-Urbana, Illinois

We at Nevei Kadosh approach Judaism—and life—with deep reverence for the past and a passionate drive to relate it to today's world. Applying our understanding of God, and Judaism as the evolving religious civilization of the Jewish people, we draw from the tributaries of Jewish tradition to face the challenges and opportunities of today. Our position is that Judaism itself—its structure, beliefs, rituals, customs and culture—must be communicated in a language that can be heard by each new generation to renew its relevance and sustainability. We are proud to teach the Truth of the Torah, and the legacy of Moses, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Sarah, Rachel, Miriam. We are members of the National Havurah Committee (NHC), a movement founded in 1980 to support the growth of havurot, or small, participatory Jewish communities. The NHC fosters grassroots Judaism, community building, and Jewish learning. We're also listed in the Hadar Institute's directory of more than 100 independent minyan, which are re-envisioning the possibilities of what an engaged Jewish life could look like today in the U.S. What is more, we are members of RabbisUNITED for Israel and the Jewish people, the non-denominational and non-partisan network of rabbis from Orthodox, Conservative, Reform, Reconstructionist, Renewal, and independent congregations. We're also a member of the T'Ruah Chaverim Network of Rabbis and Cantors, a group of more than 2,300 Jewish clergy across all denominations, and independent minyan, bringing a moral voice to human rights in the U.S., sponsored by T'Ruah: The Rabbinic Call for Human Rights. To join us for Erev Shabbat at 8:30 p.m. this Friday, Contact: reconstructionistcongregationneveikadosh@proton.me . Congregation Nevei Kadosh is proud to be part of liberal Judaism, founded millennia ago by Adonai/Elohim himself, reformed in the 19th and 20th centuries, and renewed in the 21st century.
